Question: Can I clean a plastic covertible top window with WD40?

T-Mobile
(Google: "Can I clean a plastic convertible window with wd40")

Never Clean a rear plastic convertible window of soft top ( jeep, susuki, ect) with WD40. It will eat the plastic.  We carry the plastic cleaners for your convertible top or SUV Top.

Always when you wash your rear curtain window - wet your window and rag before wiping - if you don't you could scratch you window badly.

You should use the vinyl window protectors every month - it keep it clean and takes away fine scratches and protects the window from UV rays

(Bing: "can the glass in a soft top convertible mercedes break if you put it down in cold weather")

No-- it is not recommended to lower your convertible top when the tempertures get below 55 degress.  The top get stiff and shrinks and depending on age could make it rip and crack .  So the anwer is yes - you can break a convertible top glass when you let it down in cold weather -- also make sure nothing is in the way (well area) when lowering your top.

303, makers of the renowned Aerospace Protectant, have a solution for preventing shower build-up that works in a jiffy. Shower Shield is literally a “shield” against spotting, soap scum, and mineral deposits. This product will prevent spots, film, mineral deposits, and mildew on metal, glass, stainless steel, ceramic tile, plastic laminates, fiberglass and even marble counter tops. My bathroom has a marble counter top, and Shower Shield works like a champ in keeping it clean and spot-free. Gone are the days of spending hours cleaning your shower, maintain a clean shower without lifting a finger. Also works great on granite sinks and counters. For shower and tub use lay a towel down on the floor too keep it off.

Invisible Finish, No Residue. 303 Shower Shield leaves a transparent, protective finish on shower walls, tiles, metal fixtures, grout, and glass doors.

Lasts 6 Weeks or Longer. Before I started using Shower Shield, cleaning my shower was a weekly chore, and a long one at that. Now it is possible to clean in minutes, and not have to worry about this chore for six weeks. 303 Shower Shield constantly repels spots and soap scum, day after day, week after week.

Environmentally Safe. 303 Shower Shield is also non-flammable, non-toxic, and bio-degradable. There is no harsh scent, just the smell of fresh lemons with each use.

Use 303 Shower Shield on your boat and RV! The amazing protective coating repels water spots and mineral deposits on bathroom fixtures, counter tops, sinks, glass and fiberglass. When you’re vacationing, the last thing you want to do is clean. 303 Shower Shield makes it so you don’t have to!

Wiper Blades

by Sueann Blackwell-Merrillville Auto Glass & Trim on 10/24/10

While eating at Grand Park Cafe, I overheard a gentleman tell a woman to not replace her worn wiper blades - to wait till spring so winter won't mess up her new ones.  It took everything I had not to correct the gentleman.

What was he thinking - saving money  but sacricing vision in implement  weather? how could he even justify safety?

You should change your wiperblades now and in the spring.  Worn wiper blades not only make seeing while drining in implement weather - but keeping your windshield from getting glass scratches from worn blades.

Yes, good wiper blades and not cheap these days. We just purchased a set for a BMW 330 ci and they were  $62 for the set.

Being able to see is pricless and may save you from an accident.

Not everthing can be done at home

by Sueann Blackwell-Merrillville Auto Glass & Trim on 05/16/10

We know in these time saving money is a priority, BUT

We are seeing more and more customers trying to do their inteirors and tops at home - and when things don't go as planed- they bring them to us. Now not only are they paying us to redue the job- sometime we have to get a new convertible top because they cut holes in the wrong place and there is no way to repair the problem. They may be purchasing everthing all over again.

Some tops are okay to purchase again,  but when you get into some tops you could be talking thousands - because you may have to replace top, headliner and pads all over again.

Some people say oh that much I can do it myself!  and save this money - but in reality - tops and inteirors need special tools and sometimes feness- to get them to come out looking the way we do.

this  month we have had two customers purchase items and tried to install themselfs.

One had to purchase all new fabric and them paid us to install his item on his motorcycle seat.

the second-  the customer attempted to put the rubber set window in their volkswagon top themselves.  When the top would not go in - they brought it to us.

Yes we are able to "fix" the mistake  and get the window in - but since the hole was already cut into the top, pads and headliner we had to put it back in the same place- which was 1. too low ( they will not be able to put there top down) 2. Off center which really shows now that the glass is in.  There are a couple of other problems but those are livable.

Convertible tops are not an hour job.  They can take over 8 hours with more than one person working on them. We only use Stainless Steel Staples and our glues are for automotive tops which will last. And we have the correct tools to do the job.

We may have to put a top on - put it all together - then look at the top- if there are any adjustments - you take the whole thing apart - adjust - put it all back together and look at it again.  If we are not happy - we take it apart again - adjust - put it back together again  --- get the picture?  very time consuming--

So, please  don't try it yourself-- after we  install a top if properly taken care of can last 10 years.

Thanks for reading

both these customer could have saved themselves a headach and money - by bring it to us first.

Ansewing question on convertible tops;

can you repair a shruken convertible top?

The only way is to replace the top and rear curtian - once the fabric has shrunk there is nothing that can bring it back.

2. Removing mildew on the inside of the convertible top?

One you must find out why there is mildew

If you top is old your fabric could be breaking down and leaking water through itself. If this is the case your convertilble top and rear curtain should be replaced.

2nd could be just condisation - in wet rainy weather - on the next nice day leave your windows cracked to evaporate the moisture.

you can clean you interior of your top with mild soap and wanter - never bleach products. leave window open to air dry.
