With the rains we have had and will have in the future - sunroofs can make you frown.    The newer sunroofs today no longer have a pan where water can build up and drain. The newer sunroofs have trofts that take the water to the drain hoses to drain- they are not very large so an abondence of water could get you wet. 

So sunroof maintance is very important!

1. Clean your sunroof glass and gasket regularly with mild soap and water.
2. Condition your sunroof seal after cleaning  to keep it soft.
3. Check your sunroof while it is open to make sure any debries have not made its way into your track system or front drain hoses.
4. Your front drain hoses should be checked once a month by putting a glass of water by the front drain hose and make sure the water is coming out by your tire - if not your drain tubes are cloged and need to be serviced  (there are actually four drain hoses two of them you will need to have your headliner dropped to get to them)
5. If your sunroof seems stuck it probly is- a rock, leaf or forgien object could be jamed in your sunroof tracks -
6. Also, spray lubricant in your sunroof tracks to keep them working smoothly at least twice a year..

With these tips you could save yourself a heafty amount in repairs...

Now is the time to replace that worn, shrunk SUV Top and door pieces.  With the colder weather coming, it is wise to replace your sport utlity top now- when these tops are worn and shrink  up - they become more brittle in the upcoming months.

Well, my daughter brough over some Windex with vinigear. WOW cleans really well.  No streaking - very clean windows  so  well it doesn't even look like there is anything there.  Actually works better than other Windex cleaners. This one is a keeper.

Wow, I really can't believe 23 years have gone by.  this Month marks our 23 years in business.  It has been an up and down road but has been well worth it.  Being able to have our own business made it flexible for me to take care of my children. 

By word of mouth our business has flurished and we would like to take this time to thank all of our wonderful customers by letting us work on their wonderful cars.

Well, retirement is still way out there (LOL) I still have the passion for inteirors, and the old classics--- they can try to re re invent  them but it is just not the same. Or who can not resist the sound of a Ford Mustang going down Rt30? 

Still sends chills down my spine.....  I hope to see lots more classics and muscle cars in our future-- and also cars that just need some loving care to their inteirors to bring them back to new again...

Should a convertible top be stored down? 

No. Convertible tops should be closed - If left down wear and tear can show on the sides plus they will shrink if left down for long periods of time- you may not be able to get them closed. 

My convertible top has shrunk! The material on my backgass is peeling away?

Unfortunately once a convertible to has shrunk - there is now way to get it back to new position.  Once the stitching  has come undone or your rear window starts to delaminate it is time for a replacement.  Tops are not made to last forever.  With weather, sun, rain it all takes its tole on your convertible top.  You can extend the life of your top by putting the right protectors on you top.  But on average you will be looking to replace a top every 7 to 10 years on avg- and how it is taken care of.

I had a windshield installed. Took 3 hrs. I had lunch at the restaurant on the next property. Was all fine. My issue is that the rubber weatherstripping came loose and was flapping around. I had to pull off the hiway and tape it up. They used hardly any sealant. I wanted to make sure it was done right, so I just got a tube of RTV sealant and put it in myself. Is now in excellent shape.

Found this review online.  I wish this customer would have brought his vehicle in for us to repair his rubber molding.  His molding were installed at the manufacture and sometime wrap around the glass. When he mention that we use hardley any sealant in his eyes.   You only lay one 5/16 high tranagular bead of Urethane- which is applied to the pinchweld of the vehicle- it should only touch the glass to make a secure bond to body and glass.  RTV should never be used on windshelds. Exspecially one that has just been installed. (depending on weather conditions it could take two weeks for the urethane to fully dry)   It is a silcone product, which can contaminate the urethane bond to body and windshield and falure could occur. (it has a slick property to it)  SDAT defines the amount of time that your car

Safe Drive A Way Times- Why it takes 3 hours:

The Vehicle is required to remain out of service until the autoglass part installed can properly operate as a safetydevice.

Cars with passenger side airbags require either more time or a faster acting auto glass adhesive to reach Safe Drive Away Time because of the additional strength necessary to support the deployment of the passenger side airbag. By adhering to the auto glass adhesive manufacturer's Safe Drive Away Time calculations, FMVSS requirements are met and your car is safe to drive.

No vehicle should be drivin at least one hour- And all recommend limt vehicle use the first 24 hours .

Lots of questions about convertible tops last month about leaking and drips.

1. Convertible top replacements do not come with new weather strips.

  On most convertible tops - we do not have to take all the weather strips off to install a new top.  They may not line up exactly where the old top let them.   Your new top will be tighter than your old one (hence the break in period needed.) Your convertible top weather strips should be cleaned twice a year- and can be adjusted back and forth to properly align them together. Remember, your old weather strips could be compressed and flatted from your old top - so they may not be hitting glass and body like they should.

A top is basically a "skin" that goes over your existing frame and attaches in the rear and front- the sides are kept down by side cables. But remember if your car is a '98 - your weather strips, frame and components are 14 years old.

If you have had a new convertible top install and are having leakage problems you will need to have your convertible top weatherstrips replaced.

With that said - We would always recommend replacing ;

    * Convertible top
    * Rear curtain
    * Side Cables
    * Rear Cables (if applicable)
    * Pads Front
    * Pads Rear if applicable)
    * Well (some cars)
    * Complete Convertible top weather strips
    * Framing components that could be worn
    * Latch handles - they get worn and sometime also stretch.

The cost to do a complete Convertible top replacement with extra's could put it to the $2,000 range but replacing all the component on the frame with new will bring your top to top notch status.
